Missing Oregon Mother Committed Suicide, Police Said

The missing Oregon mother who was found dead in a remote, enclosed area of Yamhill County committed suicide, authorities said late Wednesday.

Jennifer Huston, of Dundee, Oregon, was missing for nearly two weeks until her body was found Tuesday in a heavily forested and privately owned area in Sheridan.

A medical examiner ruled the 38-year-old mother of two killed herself by asphyxiation, Newberg-Dundee Police said according to ABC News. The medical examiner suspects Huston died "fairly close" to the time she was reported missing July 25, Captain Jeff Kosmicki said according to the station.

No further details about the manner of death were released.

Before Huston's body was found, the owner of the Sheridan property found her green SUV abandoned on a road less than a mile from his home. Huston's body was found a few feet from the car wearing the same clothes she was last seen in.

A note addressed to Huston's family was inside the SUV, along with an empty container for sleeping pills, police said according to Fox News. The victim's purse, cellphone and other personal items were also recovered from the car.

Vern Clemmer, the property owner, told KATU on Tuesday he did not know how Huston was able to gain access to his road because it's gated off.

The stay at home mother was last seen leaving her home to run errands on July 24. She stopped by a gas station and stopped again to buy a few items, including sleeping pills, KATU reported.

Huston's parents expressed heartache over losing their daughter in a Wednesday statement.

"We have lost our first born child," Bill and Deborah Turner said, Fox News reported. "We have lost a wife and a mother. We don't know what lead Jennifer to this dark place and to this end and perhaps never will understand this."

The family also thanked the Newburg-Dundee Police Department for their efforts in the search their daughter.
