Samsung Ready to Unveil Galaxy K Zoom on April 29

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is set to unveil the successor to the Galaxy S4 zoom called "Galaxy K" or "K Zoom" in an upcoming event on April 29.

The South Korean multinational electronics company on Monday, started mailing out invites to its upcoming event dubbed Kapture the Moment. The event, in which Samsung is expected to unveil its new smartphone, will be held at the Red Dot Design Museum in Singapore, Techspot reported.

The new addition to its lineup of smartphones is rumored to have a 20.2-megapixel camera with Xenon flash and optical image stabilization, giving away a 5,184 x 3,888 resolution. Though it is close to Galaxy S5's 16-megapixel camera -- which offers a 5312 x 2988 pixels, -- a phase detection autofocus and LED flash, the Galaxy K Zoom is still better. It is because the sensor size of the two smartphones, which is more important than the megapixel, are greatly different. It will also have ability for 10x optical zoom.

However, in comparison to Galaxy S5's 5.1 inches display, the Galaxy K Zoom's display is smaller at about 4.7 inches only. Its resolution, which is 1,280 x 720, is also lower than Galaxy S5's 1,920 x 1,080. Presumably, it will also have the same display protection using Corning Gorilla Glass 3

Galaxy K Zoom features a six core Samsung Exynos 5 Hexa SoC with a couple of ARM Cortex-A15 cores at 1.7GHz and four Corex-A7 at 1.3GHz, and a 1.5-2GB of RAM. Galaxy S5, on the other hand, features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400, and an Adreno 330 GPU.

According to PCMag, Galaxy K Zoom, just like Galaxy S5, will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It supports wireless-ac connectivity, and a MicroSD slot.

Having multiple cores clocking at a slower speed is a good ingredient for a better performance and adequate battery life.
