President Joe Biden Criticized for Insisting That US Economy is 'Strong as Hell' Despite 40-Year High Inflation

After being caught on camera in Portland, Oregon, saying that the "economy is strong as hell," Joe Biden is now suffering the fury of conservatives online.

When asked about the US economy, President Joe Biden reportedly experienced a brain freeze during a weekend pit stop at an ice cream shop in Oregon and forgot about the millions of Americans who are struggling financially.

President Joe Biden, 79, responded by saying the economy is robust as hell when asked to elaborate, munching on a waffle cone of Baskin-Robbins chocolate-chip ice cream.

The president said, "What's consequential is global inflation?"

The statements by Biden come as US inflation surges and some experts warn of a potential recession in the nation. Biden was in Oregon supporting Democratic candidates in Portland ahead of the November elections.

The dollar, which serves as the world's reserve currency, has increased by more than 20% over the past year, despite major declines in stocks, gold prices, and cryptocurrency prices, as well as the highest domestic inflation rates in forty years.

While fuelling inflation elsewhere and lowering the cost of US imports, the overvalued dollar has increased concerns about a possible worldwide recession. The British pound hit a historic low against the powerful US dollar on Saturday, prompting British Prime Minister Liz Truss to rescind a proposed tax cut for the wealthiest and replace her Treasury director to revive the failing markets.

Some detractors on the opposing side of the political spectrum questioned whether the president's frozen treatment affected his judgment while making comments on the economy. In times of financial strain, the dollar, which is utilized in 40% of foreign transactions due to its perceived stability, frequently reaches historic highs.

According to Forbes, it increased 22% during the Great Recession of 2008 and 7% during the 2020 stock market meltdown caused by COVID-19. When questioned about the US economy on Saturday in an ice cream shop in Oregon, the president didn't seem concerned by the nation's 8.2 percent inflation rate or forecasts of an impending recession.

The US dollar primarily acts as a haven investment that attracts capital during periods of uncertainty, which means it frequently increases during periods of economic unrest while other currencies, such as the pound and euro, decline.

Biden's remarks was evident in the video, which has been widely circulated since it was posted on Sunday afternoon during the head of state's visit to the infamously liberal city to celebrate the Democratic Party's most recent legislative victories in the area of health care.

Following Biden's condemnation from Republicans for delivering uninvited dating advice to a young teen girl in California much to her evident discomfort in an interaction that was also recorded, the unusual encounter has since gone viral, being shared thousands of times, as per New York Post.

US President's Portland Visit

The incidents have made Biden vulnerable to political criticism regarding his age and claims that the president has not addressed the present economic upheaval, which has seen inflation rates soar and Americans' cost of living see an even greater increase.

The president, who in May slid down the steps of Air Force One for the second time, also downplayed the nation's current inflation rate, which soared to a 41-year high over the summer, in the videotaped altercation. Over the weekend, the president concluded his western swing in Portland, where Republicans hope to seize control of the very blue state from Democrats for the first time in forty years.

Unexpectedly, Republican nominee Christine Drazan has surged to the top of the polls thanks to a combination of high crime, homelessness, and an independent spoiler candidate. President Joe Biden made his stop in Portland as part of a three-state Western US tour to support liberal candidates in the 2018 midterm elections.

Before returning to Washington, DC, Biden also visited California, where he appeared to grip a little girl by the shoulder and warn her, "No serious boys till you're 30." The moment with the unidentified young girl and her companions at Irvine Valley College in Irvine, California was also captured on camera and extensively circulated on social media.

To interact with senior citizens and promote his administration's initiatives to lower inflation and lower prices, the president went to the community college. He stood to take pictures with some of the people who had gathered to hear his words as the visit drew to a conclusion.

The president gave some maybe bad dating advice in addition to describing how he might reduce inflation and the cost of prescription pharmaceuticals, just as he had the day before with Kotek in Portland, Daily Mail reported.
