Even though the couple has been divorced for two years, Jennifer Lopez opens about her split with Marc Anthony.
According to the The Telegraph, the divorce between Lopez and Anthony was difficult for the singer.
"It was hard," the 43-year old singer said. "When Marc and I decided to separate, I thought, 'I'm not going to let this turn me into someone unhopeful who doesn't believe [in love] anymore.' I don't want to just survive it. I wanted to grow from it. And I did learn a lot."
Lopez said she learned to "love herself first" and then she questioned that "'Why can't I find somebody who treats me in the way that I treat them?"'
The couple split in 2011 after seven years together. Anthony filed for divorce in 2012. The couple have twins, Maximillian and Emme, born in 2008.
Lopez is known for her relationships with Sean "Diddy" Combs, Cris Judd and Ben Affleck. As of recently, the singer has been dating her backup dancer Casper Smart.
Being a mother has changed her life and Lopez said, motherhood is "first and most favourite thing."
Despite it being her favorite thing, the "Live It Up" singer said "It's also the scariest thing, so terrifying and daunting. But it brings me so much joy. I think about being a performer and having all these amazing moments on stage and movie sets."
In the end of the day, "nothing matches the joy I get from coming off stage and having my kids waiting there in the wings. That's when my two worlds collide and I feel whole."
Lopez is currently in the studio working on her eight studio album and dropped the first single off the upcoming record entitled "Live It Up" featuring Pitbull.
