’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Cast Rumors: Fan- Favorite Henry Cavill Rumored To Play Nick Dunne in ‘Gone Girl’ Movie?

"Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn was one of the most popular books over the summer and has slowly begun to generate casting rumor buzz. One of the names being thrown around to play the main character, Nick Dunne, is "Fifty Shades of Grey" fan-favorite Henry Cavill.

The "Man of Steel" actor was ranked number eight on Buzz Sugar's casting predictions list. Dunne is described as a 34-year-old "reasonably success magazine journalist." After becoming a victim of the recession, Dunne and his wife pack their bags and move back home to Missouri where he opens a bar with his sister. Not long after moving, and on his fifth wedding anniversary, his wife suddenly disappears with all clues leading to Dunne as the murderer.

According to
Indiewire.com, Dunne is handsome and charming but extremely selfish and can be a bit of a "douchebag." He is also described as "eager to please" almost to a fault. The perfect actor needed to pull off such a mysterious role is someone that you can easily like but also deeply despise and someone who would not reveal whether they are a stone-cold killer or an innocent man who has been framed.

Henry Cavill, Buzz Sugar said, has the "dark, disarming good looks to match those of Nick."

Joining Cavill as contenders for the role is Jake Gyllenhaal, Jeremy Renner, Ryan Gosling and Peter Sarsgaard.

According to Deadline.com, 20th Century Fox bought the rights to the book and it will be produced by Pacific Standard's Reese Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon. Flynn will reportedly write the screenplay.

The book has been receiving rave reviews. The Washington Post said the book "draws you in and keeps you reading with the force of a pure but nasty addiction" and Entertainment Weekly described the book as "an ingenious and viperish thriller- and that no matter how smart you think you are, it's going to bite you."

Have you read the book? Could you see Henry Cavill cast as the mysterious Nick Dunne?
