Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has answered his critics with two straight wins following his dismal performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. The future Hall of Famer has since gone on to throw for 653 yards and six touchdowns, including four last week against the Buffalo Bills.
"He's a winner, man," teammate Brandon LaFell said, via ESPN. "That guy comes out every week and puts us in a situation to win games."
The team will rely on Brady even more to put them in winning situations after losing running back Stevan Ridley and linebacker Jerod Mayo to knee injuries.
"It's definitely heartbreaking to see guys go down like that," said Patriots receiver Matthew Slater. "We have to do as good a job as we can of just trying to move on, and continuing to play well."
Jets coach Rex Ryan, though, isn't underestimating his longtime division rival.
"This is the biggest rival you have," Ryan said. "... You don't have to worry about the motivation. It's going to be there. Both teams don't like each other. There's respect for each other, but I don't think you really like each other. We know we have to be at our very best."
Ryan's team isn't without their own injuries. His secondary is even more susceptible to Brady after losing cornerback Dee Milliner to a season-ending Achilles injury, and his ground game took a hit with left guard Brian Winter's season-ending knee injury.
"We're built to run," said Ryan. "I think we've just got to stay the course with it and see what happens."
