Jesse Eisenberg has been busy promoting his new movie, "The Double" but briefly discussed his role as Lex Luthor in "Batman vs. Superman," Comicbook.com reports. The actor said he plans to treat the villainous character as a separate thing from previous movie versions of Lex.

"It'll definitely be played by a different person, but I don't know really how different this - I don't know the history as well as the people making the movie, so I guess it's up to them to figure out how much they want to separate it from previous incarnations," he said. "But I will treat it like it's its own role. There's no way to play the history of the character played by other people, unless you do some kind of wink, but that doesn't see like a responsible way to act."

"So I will just do it as though it's a character, in the same you do a movie like 'The Double,' which is a smaller movie - but you just kind of treat it like a character, and that's probably the best course of action, I think," Eisenberg added.

So will the 30-year-old shave his curly locks for the movie? Eisenberg said "because of their privacy" he isn't allowed to divulge that information.

Director Zack Snyder faced some criticism after casting the "Social Network" star as Lex but has stuck by his decision previously telling Hero Complex that he hopes fans trust him.

"There are two ways to think about it," he said. "We know the material. Unfortunately, the fans don't know the material. So, we're casting according to what's happening in the script. And we're hoping that leads to enough originality, enough perspective on what we're doing that you get something fresh and exciting. I understand the canon."

"I think Jesse is going to be an amazing Lex," Snyder added. "Let's not forget he was nominated for an Academy Award. It's not like I just grabbed my friend to play the guy! This guy's the real deal."

"Man of Steel 2" also stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. The film is expected to hit theaters May 6, 2016.
