Texas Man, Ross Lehmberg, Dies In Lake Conroe Accident

A Texas man died after jumping from the second deck of a party boat and drowning in Lake Conroe on Saturday night, according to The Eagle.

Ross Lehmberg, a 26-year-old graduate of Texas A&M University, was with his fraternity brothers when the incident unfolded around 8:30 p.m.

Deputies, the Lake Conroe Fire Department, and the North Montgomery County Fire Department were called to the April Sound Marina after a report of a possible drowning.

According to Lehmberg's friends, he hit his head during him jump into the water and never came back up. Though some people jumped into the water to find him, they were unsuccessful in their search.

Montgomery County Precinct 1 dive teams worked until 12:30 a.m. when they finally recovered Lehmberg's body, WFAA-TV said.

After arriving at the scene, Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack had Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the body to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for an autopsy.

Lake Patrol authorities said alcohol was present onboard at the time of the incident.

Lehmberg was an alumnus of the FarmHouse Fraternity.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident and loss of our alumnus Ross Lehmberg yesterday evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this sudden loss. With a current investigation ongoing, we will not be making further comments at this time. We are fully cooperating with authorities to help with this process," a statement read.

Friends took to social media sites to express their sadness over Lehmberg's death.

"So sad from the news I just got! Ross Lehmberg, you were one of the nicest guys I knew and you could always make me laugh! You'll be missed," one Twitter user said.

"I'm so grateful for the memories we shared this weekend ... rest in paradise sweet boy," another friend wrote on Instagram.
