The San Diego State Aztecs play the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday in the Sweet 16 round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Tipoff is at 10:17 p.m. ET on TBS. Watch the live stream via the link provided below.
Fourth-seeded San Diego State overcame New Mexico State in the tournament's second round and cruised past North Dakota State in the third. The Aztecs have lost only four times this season, largely because of their stingy defense.
"We love playing defense," Aztecs senior guard Xavier Thames told the Associated Press. "We know offense is going to come, but if we want to win and win big, we have to play defense."
With a week off to study film of their opponent, at least one thing stood out about Arizona.
"We just can't turn the ball over," Aztecs sophomore forward Winston Shepard said. "We watched some of the Gonzaga clips and they're a great team, but they turned the ball over too much."
Arizona junior guard Nick Johnson used the extra time to study tape and found San Diego State and his team share at least one similarity.
"They're long, athletic just like us, so they like to press a little bit, create turnovers," Johnson said. "That's going to be the key to the game as far as us just doing what we do, be a defensive team. Take care of the ball when they try to pressure us."
First-seeded Arizona earned a spot in the Sweet 16 after defeating Weber State and Gonzaga. The Wildcats (32-4) are coming off an 84-61 blowout win over Gonzaga, adding to the team's confidence as they make their third Sweet 16 appearance in four years.
