Nicole Richie and Ann Hathaway Show Off Blonde Hair at Met Ball (PHOTOS)

The hottest stars gathered last night at the annual Met Ball to kick off this year's "Punk: From Chaos to Couture" exhibit. Celebrities dazzled and shined on the red carpet in their interpretations of punk meets couture.

Two stars turned heads as they walked the red carpet in newly blonde streaks.

Nicole Richie changed her honey-blonde hair to a bright white silvery grey. She showed up to the gala looking very tanned with dark burgundy lips and studded earrings. Richie wore a full-length cream beaded dress by Topshop. Topshop later revealed that her gown will be available to buy in stores later this year.

Right before the event Richie teased fans on Instagram that she would be dying her hair for the event.

Rihanna tweeted to Richie that she should get best dressed saying the star made her "want to throw up." Rihanna meant this as a compliment saying that Richie's dress and look was sick.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art revealed its spring exhibition, "Punk: From Chaos to Couture" with the kick off of the annual Met Gala. The exhibit will be on public display from May 9 to August 11.

According to Women's Wear Daily, the exhibition will "highlight the origins of the punk movement and draw direct connections to haute couture and ready-to-wear creations that it has inspired for the past three decades."

Instead of focusing on one designer's retrospective like the past two years, this year's exhibit will include looks from Azzedine Alaia, Ann Demeulemeester, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Rei Kawakubo, Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang and Rodarte.
