Organizers of the 2023 Boardmasters Festival in the UK's southwestern Cornwall region issued a warning Saturday (August 12) after dangerous drugs called Tesla Tablets were discovered on site.

In response, signs were put up by the organizers to inform revelers not to take them and to seek medical assistance immediately in the event they consumed the class A drug ecstasy, which is also known as methylenedioxyphenethylamine or MDMA, ITV reported.

The drug uses the Tesla logo, but it remained to be seen if Tesla boss Elon Musk endorsed it after he was reported to endorse MDMA and other psychedelic drug intake for its alleged benefits.

How Does MDMA Affect The Person Taking It?

According to the British National Health Service (NHS), short-term side effects of ecstasy include dilated pupils, a tingling feeling, tightening of the jaw muscles, and an increased body temperature and heart rate.

If consumed often, users would have an increased risk of anxiety and depression and a condition called serotonin syndrome that could cause death.

Party Drug Deterrence in Full Swing

Meanwhile, a representative for the festival said drug messaging was a standard procedure across all major events, adding their efforts were to minimize illicit drug use in their event.

People attending the festival are also being warned about the possibility of drink spiking and vape and cigarette spiking.

In addition, Boardmasters outlined its detailed drugs policy, wherein people entering the festival are subject to searching, with amnesty points deployed nearby to dispose of any prohibited items, including illegal drugs, with no questions asked.

Partygoers might also be arrested if they were found to be in possession of drugs and would be refused entry. Those smuggling drugs onto the site would also be properly apprehended as police and sniffer dogs on patrol within party grounds.

Revelers are further encouraged to read through drugs advice issued by Festival Safe.
