A new TikTok investigation revealed more details about rumors claiming that the popular video platform is sharing U.S. user data on China's servers.

Ever since ByteDance was linked to the Chinese government, the U.S. government became concerned since they believe that the company's popular app is used to collect data from American users. 

Now, a new investigation conducted by Forbes revealed more details about TikTok's U.S. user data-sharing activities on servers in China.

According to Forbes' latest report, TikTok is storing sensitive details of its biggest European and American influencers.

These TikTokers included those in the TikTok Creator Fund. Based on the American Business magazine's investigation, the stored U.S. data includes financial details and personal information. 

This was confirmed by numerous TikTok sources across different parts of the company that Forbes talked with. 

The investigation was conducted weeks after TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew testified at a House hearing back in March. 

In his testimony, Chew clarified that the data of American users on TikTok has always been stored in Singapore and Virginia. 

The TikTok CEO also said there's a difference between the U.S. user data they collect and the information American influencers provide to get paid for their videos.

US Now Claiming TikTok Mislead Congress

The New York Times recently reported that two senators sent a letter to the TikTok CEO on June 6. 

They asked the video platform's official regarding how TikTok stores and handles American user data. 

After the recent investigation of Forbes and other similar reports, the two U.S. senators accused TikTok of providing misleading claims to the U.S. Congress. 

"We are deeply troubled by TikTok's recurring pattern of providing misleading, inaccurate, or false information to Congress," explained Marsha Blackburn and Richard Blumenthal.
