Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson are talking about potentially working together as the former Fox News host plans his career moving forward, according to a report.

The Fox News host recently parted ways with the network after hosting one of the most popular cable news shows. Now, it seems Carlson is plotting his next venture as he presses ahead.

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 29: Fox News host Tucker Carlson discusses 'Populism and the Right' during the National Review Institute's Ideas Summit at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel March 29, 2019 in Washington, DC.

According to a recent report by Axios, Carlson is now in talks with right-wing news outlets following his parting ways with Fox News. On top of that, he had a discussion with the Tesla and SpaceX Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Musk, who recently took over Twitter.

Carlson previously interviewed the Chief Twit last month, or in mid-April, to be exact.

Besides this interaction, the cable news host and the tech entrepreneur recently had a conversation behind closed doors. Axios reports that Carlson and Musk had a discussion, which dive into the topic of possibly working hand in hand.

But despite that, the news outlet says that the two have yet to go into specific details of the potential collaboration.

Business Insider points out that Musk previously spewed remarks about voting for Democrats and Republicans in the 2022 elections. However, he urged those in the middle ground to support Republicans to block Democrats from holding the majority.

Social media experts also emphasized that some tweets of Musk echo the outcry of conservatives.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 02: Elon Musk attends The 2022 Met Gala Celebrating "In America: An Anthology of Fashion" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 02, 2022 in New York City.

Axios reports that Carlson discussed possible opportunities with conservative outfits, such as Rumble and Newsmax.

However, Business Insider notes that Carlson's contract with Fox lasts until 2025, preventing him from working with other rival networks, despite him being off-air. With that, he has already hired the well-known celebrity lawyer, Bryan Freedman, to work on the dispute.

Coincidentally, the ex-CNN host Don Lemon, who parted ways with his longtime network minutes after Carlson's Fox News exit, also hired the same lawyer.

Although Carlson attempts to negotiate his formal exit, it might not go smoothly and quickly. Forbes notes that Fox could potentially prolong the proceedings to fend him off from working with a competing channel.

New Media Empire in Works?

Axios also reported that the cable news host is looking to develop his "media empire."

Daily Wire notes that unnamed sources familiar with the matter disclosed that Carlson is contemplating launching a subscription-based news platform, which would follow the direct-to-consumer model.

It is unclear if Carlson had raised the "media empire" idea to Musk.
