Iran-backed fighters were on alert last Saturday for US strikes that hit Eastern Syria. An Iran-made drone attack killed a US contractor, and five more were injured last Thursday, based on sources.

Iran Expects US Retaliatory Strikes

Opposition activists mentioned the incident, and the fighters were located in Eastern Syria, reported Republic World. Sources say it was calm for militants a day after rockets were aimed at a base with US troops in the eastern sector of the country. Before that, rocket attack airstrikes hit three locations in Deir el-Zour bordering Iraq, stated the activists.

The Center revealed the aerial strikes by the US hit locations storing food items with other service centers found in Deir el-Zour. It was not mentioned the US attack killed seven and wounded seven but no nationalities of the people. Another source said the seven killed were Iranians, cited TRT.

Military actions by the US are seen as an attempt to cause tremors and prevent the Saudi-Iran deal from further unifying rival powers in the region.

On Friday, US President Joe Biden said the US will respond against Syrian locations with groups linked to the Revolutionary Guard of Iran, noted AP News. After the Thursday drone attack, the US responded in kind.

Biden said in Ottawa that Iran's proxies must be ready for more retaliation. Late Friday, the Iranian Consultative Center in Syria told the US it would regret its decisions and remarked it wouldn't be just a simple retaliation that will happen.

US Strikes Eastern Syria Territories

A total of 19 died from several US attacks in three locations with an arms depot in Harabesh, Deir el-Zour city, with two military sites in two towns, Mayadeen and Boukamal, said the Observatory. The Israelis have launched airstrikes in the area where Iran-supported militias and Syrian forces hold the area where the supply route of Iran was targeted.

US officials stated two attacks were made simultaneously against US forces last Friday in the country. A rocket assault at the Conoco plant with US troops protecting it with one injured soldier stabilized. In another attack, several drones were projected at Green Village in the Deir el-Zour province with a US base, where only one drone was not shot down. No injuries were reported, and details about the military operation were not also disclosed.

The Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, has been accused of drone attacks in the Middle East.

US officials say the drone is from Iran, but there is no proof to back their claims. A drone struck a coalition base in Hasakeh. Iran has a regional network to fight the US and Israel, which are proxy forces. But the US occupied Syria in 2015 to fight the Islamic State group with Kurds in Syria.

Joe Biden has ordered strikes against Syria in February and June 2021 with August 2022 too. Iran-backed fighters are bracing for a similar US strike in Eastern Syria as hostilities escalate again despite the Saudi-Syria deal.
