The Alabama prison guard Vicky White might be the mastermind of murder suspect Casey White's escape, a former attorney for the fugitive believes.

A former attorney for Casey White believes Vicky White, the woman who escaped with capital murder suspect on April 29, is the likely mastermind behind the pair's well-publicized escape from the Lauderdale County Jail in Alabama.

Dale Bryant of Limestone County, Alabama, defended Casey White during the appeals process for convictions he received in 2019 for a string of earlier crimes in Alabama and Tennessee.

Vicky White Possibly Plans for Casey White's Escape

Casey White responds to situations rather than making plans, according to Bryant. Officials claimed the pair, who are not related, fled the jail that morning under the premise of being sent for a mental health assessment and went unseen for hours.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said Vicky White breached procedure by carrying a prisoner alone that night, and detectives would be investigating into their encounters.

According to media reports, they've discovered proof that the escape was a well-planned occurrence. Vicky White sold her property for $95,000 and withdrew monies from multiple banks nine days after their absence. Casey White's fellow prisoners said he and Vicky White had a "special relationship," Newsweek via MSN reported.

Witness Speaks Out About Abandoned Car Used by Fugitive

Last week, the lady who discovered the abandoned getaway car of fugitive prison guard Vicky White and convicted killer Casey White outside her Tennessee house expressed her concern after discovering the vehicle only hours after the pair fled an Alabama jail.

Adams, 41, a school bus driver in the remote town, said she was driving home from one of her other jobs when she observed the former correctional officer White's unidentifiable SUV with tinted windows and no tags. The vehicle, which carried Whites' jail radio, handcuffs, and keys, was towed later that day, with sheriffs apparently oblivious of the car's relation to the manhunt, Daily Mail reported.

The automobile had been parked at a Tennessee tow yard for the past week. Authorities believe the couple is romantically linked, and they've been on the run ever since, avoiding hundreds of law enforcement officers. Vicky White, a former correctional officer, is shown on CCTV checking out of a motel at about 5:21 a.m. on Sunday. Authorities believe she went on to bust prisoner Casey White out of jail on that day.

Vicky White reportedly stayed at the hotel the night before fleeing with Casey White, who was facing a capital murder trial for allegedly stabbing Connie Ridgeway to death in 2015. The Alabama jail guard is seen approaching the hotel's front desk, bending over it and obviously looking for something in the 14-second clip. Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton told WAFF-TV that the motel isn't far from where their getaway car was parked.

On April 29, she picked him up from jail for a court mental health examination that didn't exist, and they continued on their way, according to authorities. Per NY Daily News, Vicky White was scheduled to retire the next day. The 56-year-old widow, who worked as the deputy director of prisons for Lauderdale County, now faces a first-degree charge of enabling or assisting escape.

Casey White, 38, is most likely off his mental-illness medicines, according to his attorney, and the two are regarded as armed and dangerous. Vicky White, as a result, may be at risk, according to Singleton, who also confirmed that the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, FBI, and US Marshals are cooperating in the investigation.
