For the past few years, Apple has given its users in Europe, Canada, Japan and some other countries around the world 12 days of free downloads and other digital gifts to help celebrate the holiday season. The gifts can be in the form of a free video, song, game, book or app. All of the items are delivered through the company's 12 Days of Gifts app for the iPhone and iPad.
According to the The Verge, this year will mark the first time the company has offered this program in the United States. The app launches today and is currently available for download in the United States, Europe, Russia, Japan and other territories.
The app is a simple free download and, if you choose to let it, it will allow you to set it to send you push notifications whenever the application has a new app available. Each day a new product download that would otherwise cost money, will be available for free for 24 hours. Once the 24 hours are up the deal goes away and the product switches to a new 24 hour deal.
There are no clues as to what gifts Apple plans on giving out this year and items are expected to vary from country to country. However, in previous years, gifts have included games like Score!, Classic Goals, Broken Sword and Sonic Jump. Other gifts have included TV shows like Sherlock and How I Met Your Mother. Finally, movies are an option as well such as classics like Chaplin's Modern Times, and music videos and tracks from One Direction, Kesha and Maroon 5. The giveaways start Dec. 26 and run through Jan 6.
Will you be downloading the app? If so, tell us what you hope Apple will be sharing with you this holiday season. Comment and share your wish list with us below.
