Out of dozens of people camping out at a southwest Houston car dealership on Black Friday, a 15-year-old boy and his mother came out as the lucky owners of two vehicles worth $1 each, local KHOU-TV reported.
Out of the 300 cars on the parking lot, only five vehicles would be sold for a dollar.
Black Friday, a day of drastic discounts and rock-bottom prices in the U.S., saw 200 people at Sterling McCall Toyota at the Southwest Freeway picking their choice of cars, camping out and sleeping near their chosen vehicle to have first claims when the moment arrived, KHOU-TV reported.
The sale had a woman writing her name for good luck on the car she wanted to purchase.
Fifthteen-year-old Reginald Anokwuru had his sight on a vehicle as old as he. As the others cheered on, an emotional Anokwuru was given the good news of having won the car by a salesman.
"I was just happy. I could feel it," the teen said. "You just knew it, like I just won the lotto."
The young man's happiness was doubled when it was announced that his mother had also gotten a car for $1.
While most of the customers turned up happy, some had to be calmed down by security as arguments and accusations of lines being cut and spots being stolen rung the air, KHOU-TV reported.
