Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and his brother Doug said on Friday that they are considering starting an online show, after being approached by the likes of Dr. Phil and Oprah with reality television offers.
Doug Ford told the Associated Press that the show will "get their message out and not have that message be twisted by the media," adding that the siblings are thinking of posting weekly videos of their show on YouTube as an alternative to the numerous reality TV shows offers they've been approached with recently.
"Everyone from Oprah to Dr. Phil," City Councilor Doug Ford told Canadian news service the National Post on Thursday. "You name the person, we've got calls from them. There's a massive market in the U.S."
The show is slated to be called "Ford Nation," the same name as the embattled Mayor's Sun News show which was taken off air despite record-high viewer numbers.
Councilor Ford says the two have both waved away all offers for television shows made by others. They've been more interested in suggestions from videographers offering to shoot material for the YouTube show.
Ford told AP that they first episode will most likely be posted before Christmastime.
Mayor Rob Ford was recently stripped of his powers in office, rendering him leader of Toronto by name and title only. The Mayor has been caught in a whirlwind of negative media attention after a video was released of him acting erratically, making murder threats. He then admitted to smoking crack, "once in his life," and made lurid comments concerning his sex life with his wife. Later, he exhibited more strange behavior when he barreled down a councilor during a city meeting, then ran into a camera.
