Brazilian police have slammed Justin Bieber with legal charges for "defacing a building or urban monument by graffiti or other means," after the singer spray painted a wall in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Could things get any worse for Justin Bieber? The singer has found himself in all sorts of trouble recently. First, Bieber was criticized for leaving a concert half way after a water bottle thrown in from the crowd knocked down the microphone he was holding. Then, he was found in bed allegedly with a hooker soon after being spotted leaving an infamous brothel in Brazil.
Now the actor has been slammed with legal charges for "defacing a building or urban monument by graffiti or other means" by the Brazilian police. In Brazil, defacing a building can be punishable by a fine or up to a year in jail, but local authorities said Biebers' was "a minor offense."
According to RollingStone.com, the 19-year-old singer had permission from the city to paint on a graffiti wall in Rio's Olympic Village, the Morro do Vidigal, but chose to tag a wall on a nearby hotel to avoid his local fans.
"Authorization granted by the city did not extend to other locations," the statement from police revealed, according to PEOPLE magazine.
However, sources close to Bieber told TMZ that the singer is pleading ignorance, insisting he was advised by locals to tag the building in question, and presumed it was alright.
This is not the first international controversy the "Girlfriend" singer has been involved in this year. In April, he caused outrage with his message in a guestbook at the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam, saying he hoped the Holocaust victim would have been a fan - "a belieber".
Just yesterday, a new Bieber YouTube video went viral on the Internet. The video showed the young star sleeping on a hotel room bed. The camera person was a lady who was speculated to be a prostitute.
