It's been a rough year for former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kim Richards, but it looks like she's finally looking to get her life back on track.

She and her 20-year-old daughter Kimberly Jackson are working on a new counseling show about famous mothers and daughter who have faced public struggles, according to Entertainment Tonight. "Hills" star Heidi Montag and her mother will also be on the show.

Kim, 51, most recently entered rehab back in April for the fourth time after being arrested at the Beverly Hills hotel for public intoxication and shortly after hitting her 30-day sober mark, she attended her daughter Brooke's wedding and made a very public and drunken scene. In August, she was arrested for shoplifting at a Target in California.

A source told Entertainment Tonight in October that she had moved into her own condo and that she was doing much better. "She's focused, she's sober, she's happy," the source said.

Kim's sister Kyle also revealed that she has recently spoken to Kim and that she seems to be on the right track.

"I spoke to Kim the other day and she was confident and strong," Kyle, 46, told People. "I was like, 'Yes! Let's keep you here.' There are no guarantees, but I'm excited and hopeful."

As Kim's alcohol abuse became a real family issue, it also started to become a major part of the drama on the show. "I didn't want to point out to the world what was going on," Kyle explained. "Even if I was angry or frustrated, she's still my sister. It was private. That's how my mom raised us. I used to be very angry with Kim about her issues...It made me realize, alcoholism is a disease and she can't help this. It taught me a lot."

It's hard to tell if people will relapse as you never truly know what somebody is going to happen, but Kyle is trying to remain optimistic.

"There are no guarantees for someone who is an alcoholic," she admits. "I'm always waiting for the end. 'When is this over? When can we put this away and start having fun?' But we can't ever do that. And that's something I've had to learn...I just hope Kim will be healthy, happy and sober for the rest of her life. She's got four amazing kids, she's an incredible mom, she has a lot to look forward to."
