Two Men Arrested In England On Terrorism Charges After 'Bomb Making' Documents Discovered

Two men in England are facing terrorism charges after authorities discovered "bomb making" documents in their possession following at Oct. 13 arrest, Reuters reported.

The suspects, whose names cannot be released due to law, were arrested earlier this month after officials launched an investigation suggesting they were preparing to instigate acts of terror.

The 25-year-old suspects made their first court appearance on Monday at Westminster Magistrates' Court after being charged on Sunday. During the public proceedings, they were referred to as "AB" and "CD."

AB is charged with an offense under section 5 of the UK's Terrorism Act 2006, which assesses preparation for acts of terrorism. The details of the alleged offense cannot be published according to law.

Both AB and CD are charged with a smaller offense under section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000, which deals with the collection or possession of information of materials likely to be used in an act of terrorism. That charge relates to the "Bomb Making" document.

CD is charged with an offense under section 4 of the Identity Documents Act 2010 for false identification documents for improper use and intention.

Judge Michael Snow directed the case to Central Criminal Court, which is also known as the Old Bailey. Their first hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18 and both remain in custody.

During their arrest earlier this month, two other men were detained with them but were released without charges on Saturday.

BBC reported after their arrest that government officials said the decision to arrest the men was based off of information suggesting the possibility of a "potentially very serious" plot, although it was not deemed as serious as previous bombings.

One of the suspects is a British citizen of Turkish origin and the second is a British citizen of Algerian origin. The other men that were released were also British citizens, one of which was of Azerbaijani origin and the other of Pakistani origin.
