"NCIS: New Orleans" will dive deeper into its characters' backstories in season two and for Meredith Brody that means meeting mommie dearest. Zoe McLellan couldn't be more excited to explore that relationship especially with Annie Potts playing her TV mother.

"Right now we're doing an episode with Annie Potts playing my mom which is amazing. I'm doing this mother daughter stuff with her and I'm like, 'Whoa, this is some loaded stuff here,'" McLellan told Headlines & Global News exclusively. "The mom stuff is really cool, really fun stuff."

Potts will make her first appearance in an episode later this season and her visit will stir up old emotions concerning the death of Brody's twin sister, according to TV Guide magazine. Viewers learned in season one that the NCIS agent failed to stop a disgruntled Petty Officer from setting off an explosive on the U.S.S. Moultrie because his eyes reminded Brody of her sister's, who was killed by a drunk driver days earlier.

Brody will also enter the new seasons with a new "sassy hairdo," which McLellan hopes will get her a few more dates. She's off to a good start with one young gentleman caller in an early episode. The actress also hopes the writers bring back her ex-fiance James Lathom (Luke Mably) and further explore their unconventional relationship.

"I really love that storyline because they're both married to their job and not necessarily looking for the traditional everyday relationship. But they love each other," McLellan said. "I really hope they bring him back in at some point because I think it's important to look at that as well. There are people out there who can relate."
