Dogs Oscar and Emmy made incredible transformations after they were rescued by the Chicago Police Department from an abandoned building in July. The dogs were dangerously malnourished and needed immediate medical care when police discovered them, so they enlisted the help of the Trio Animal Foundation, a local rescue group.

Because the dogs were incredibly underweight, they had to be slowly introduced to food to prevent "refeeding syndrome," which could cause their staved systems to be overwhelmed and could lead to organ failure and even death.

In the following weeks, things began to turn around for Emily as she bonded with Anthony, one of her technicians. "Anthony has taken care of Emmy since the day that she was hospitalized and he has never left her side since," the foundation posted on its official Facebook page.

Emmy and Anthony became so close that he decided to take her in once she was given the "Go" signal to leave the hospital.

Oscar made a full recovery as well. However, he had to undergo special training to help him recuperate and gain his trust on humans once again.

"After over two months of both medical and emotional rehabilitation... Oscar is ready for adoption," the rescue posted, according to the Dodo.
