People stood and watched as the rescue took place - a small dog was pulled from a Port Canaveral drain pipe.

As patrons walked by Fishlips Waterfront Bar, they reported barking from a drain opening along Nesbet Drive, according to Florida Today.

"They were able to rescue the dog," said David Jacobs, spokesman for the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, which oversees Brevard County Animal Services. Cape Canaveral Fire Department crews assisted.

"From what I understand they tried food, coaxing but nothing worked," said Assistant Chief Tracy Braley of the Port Canaveral Fire Department, according to Florida Today.

"Bowls of food, calling for him, backing away from pipe to see if would come out on [its] own," said Capt. Brian Dennison, of Cape Canaveral Fire Rescue, according to Fox 51 WOGX. "Nothing worked."

Firefighters "flushed" the dog out by moving it with water until rescuers at the other end could reach the dog and leash him.

Braley said the dog looked well cared for, but had no tags. The dog was taken to the North Animal Care Center for an exam and might have already found a fur-ever home!
