Many cases of dogs left in hot cars had been recorded and number of concerned citizens have rescued dogs only to end up getting punished.

Patrick Kennedy, who worked at a mall in Metairie, La., spotted a puppy in a car in the parking lot, according to a Facebook post from Villalobos Rescue Center.

Kennedy was aware that it was 98 degrees outside that day, which could be much worse inside the car. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) said that with those high temperatures, it could reach 160 degrees inside the car.

After arguing with the mall security, Kennedy called 911 and eventually released the dog to its family who came 30 minutes after. But even after rescuing the dog, Kennedy was charged later that day when the police security claimed that Kennedy had "bumped" a security guard, the Dodo reported.

Kennedy, a veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), is punished for being a good Samaritan by saving the life. The mall's Facebook page was bombarded with comments from people who defended Kennedy.

This also happened to another man named Michael Hammons who is also a war veteran. He rescued a small dog inside a hot car by breaking the window using his wife's foot rest from her wheel chair. Like Kennedy, Hammons was also arrested for the act. Watch the video of the incident here:
