The United Nations is calling for an independent investigation into the war crimes allegedly committed by Syrian rebels in their fight against the government, according to the Voice of America.
United Nations human rights chief Navi Pillay Friday said that its team in Syria has found video records, which expose executions of at least 30 people in the Syrian city of Aleppo by the rebels, last month.
The U.N. human rights chief described the video-evidence as "deeply shocking." She said most of the victims that were captured on the video were Syrian soldiers.
Russia had recently objected when the U.S. declared it will send direct military aid to the Syrian rebels. Russia has been one of the main supporters of the Syrian government under President Bashar al-Assad in the fight against rebels in the country.
The U.S. decided to arm the rebels saying the Syrian government had crossed a "redline" by using chemical weapons against the dissenters.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was the only leader at the G 8 summit in Northern Ireland last month who supported the Assad regime while all other leaders urged Putin to pull off support of the Assad government.
The United States human rights chief warned both sides that whoever breaks international humanitarian and human rights laws will be held accountable.
More than 100,000 people have been killed in the Syrian war and around six million forced to leave their homes and escape to neighboring countries.
Around 600,000 Syrian refugees have been registered with the United Nations in Lebanon, most of them women and children.
An increasing number of Syrian women refugees in the country are turning to prostitution or what they describe as "survival sex", in order to secure money and food for their families, according to aid workers in Lebanon.
"There are certain shelters that are known that the prostitution percentage is very high in these shelters, whether in Ain Helweh camp or in Sadaya, in different areas they are known. A lot of prostitution is taking place," said Rima Zaazaa of the Lebanese charity, Solidarity and Development.
