The ceremonial pitch can be awkward at best. Jessica Jung of South Korean girl-group Girls' Generation threw a terribly uncomfortable one at Jamshil Baseball Stadium in Seoul last year.
She barely got the ball three feet from the pitcher's mound, then, embarrassed at the entire field's chuckles, slinked away from the green.
But fellow South Korean Shin Soo-ji more than duped her on this one.
Rhythmic gymnast Soo-ji wowed the crowd with her own, erm, spin on the traditional pitch.
As an athlete, most highly anticipated her pitch, wondering what display she'd show at the game.
Mixing gymnastics with baseball, Soo-ji did a spin called "back illusion," turning her body 360 degrees with one leg in the air before launching the ball toward the pitcher. She threw the ball pretty straight, after nearly brushing her head against the ground.
