In a horrific tale of events, a 43-year-old British woman was allegedly attacked and raped by eleven teenagers, including a 15-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy at a flat in Liverpool last month, BBC News reported.
Paramedics and emergency crews rushed to the unidentified victim's apartment in Antfield on Sept. 24 after receiving reports that a woman had been sexually assaulted. But before the woman was taken to the hospital, police managed to interview the distressed victim on Ullswater Street, located less than half a mile away from Liverpool FC's Anfield stadium.
Since the alleged assault, ten males and a 15-year-old girl have been arrested. Two were aged 18 and 19, and the rest of the boys were aged between 12 and 16, Merseyside police stated, adding that more people are being searched as part of the ongoing investigation.
Specifically, a 15-year-old male, from Walton, a 13-year-old male, from Old Swan, and a 19-year-old male, from Everton, were arrested in connection with the attack.
For now, all suspects, who are believed to have known one another from the same area of Liverpool, have received bail, pending further inquiries.
"The victim has been distressed by her ordeal and is being supported by specialist officers," Detective Superintendent Tim Keelan of Merseyside Police said."This was an appalling attack on a woman in her own home and we would urge anyone who has information, which could help us bring those responsible to justice, to come forward."
"It is possible that some of those who were in the flat on the day may have talked to people, including friends or family, about what happened and if they have we would urge them to contact us."
Specialist detectives from the force's Matrix Serious Organized Crime unit are now appealing for anyone with information about the attack to come forward, UK MailOnline reported.
Meanwhile, the woman no longer lives at the same address, police said.
