A Texas jury acquitted Ezekiel Gilbert in the murder of 23-year-old Lenora Ive Frago in 2009 according to My Sanantonio. Gilbert was brought up on the charges a transaction went bad.
Frago reportedly asked Gilbert for $150 for her services, but the escort walked around Gilbert's apartment and did not fulfill his sexual requests. Gilbert claims the ad was misleading. A disappointed Gilbert shot Frago in the neck and paralyzed her. He admitted to shooting Frago in his testimony. Frago died seven months later.
"I sincerely regret the loss of the life of Ms. Frago. I've been in a mental prison the past four years of my life," Gilbert said. "I have nightmares. If I see guns on TV where people are getting killed, I change the channel."
According to My Sanantonio, the jury took 11 hours to deliberate which took a total of two days. Gilbert's defense attorney insisted "the intent wasn't to kill, Gilbert's actions were justified" and that "it became theft when she refused to have sex with him or give the money back."
The $150 fee was reportedly to be given to the escorts driver who in reality was her pimp and business partner. Gilbert's defense attorney believe he was a victim of a pair of con-artists and who was protecting himself. Prosecutors argued that the law does not commend deadly force "for someone trying to force another person into an illegal act such as prostitution."
