Anand Lal Shimpi, founder of tech website AnanTech, announced over the weekend that his career in technology journalism was over, and that he was moving on to work for Apple.

Shimpi served as the site's editor and publisher before making the decision to join the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant, according to Re/code. An Apple representative confirmed in a report that the company has hired him, though no other details were revealed.

Shimpi announced his move in a post on the site, saying he was "officially retiring from the tech publishing world."

"I won't stay idle forever. There are a bunch of challenges out there J," he wrote.

Anantech was founded in 1997 and started out developing motherboards, moving on to work on PC components and other hardware, The Verge reported.

Shimpi had gained a great deal of respect during his time with the company for his experience and expertise in the field. His previous work includes consulting as well as working with hardware makers to find and correct problems with solid state drives and other components. Shimpi also led his company's push to out smartphone developers that added artificial enhancements to their device to improve their performance.

Anantech's founder also announced in his post that while he is no longer with the company, it will continue to publish stories on technology, Re/code reported. He added that Ryan Smith, the new editor and chief of Anantech, will be in charge of the company.
