Bad luck seems to be haunting Atlantic's City's Revel Casino and Hotel.

About $21,000 is missing after it fell off a GardaWorld armored truck on Aug. 6. The truck had just picked the money up from Revel, according to The Associated Press.

The blunder came after a GardaWorld employee left one of the bags on top of the truck, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

Surveillance videos show the truck leaving Revel with the bag of money on top of the rear driver's side roof at 10:51 a.m., which is about 20 minutes after the first bag was picked up, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

But no one knows when the bag filled with more than $20,000 fell off, since surveillance footage shows it was still on the truck's roof when they made a pickup six minutes later at Resorts Atlantic City. Footage also shows it was still on the roof when the truck headed toward Route 40 down Pennsylvania Avenue.

A Garda spokesman told the Press of Atlantic City they have launched an open investigation.

"We are cooperating with the authorities in investigating this incident and cannot provide any additional details," said director of corporate communications Joe Gavaghan.

Revel has been "cursed" from the beginning, say some Atlantic City regulars.

January 2009: Revel Entertainment Group lays off 400 workers and halts construction.

April 2010: Morgan Stanley pulls out of the Revel project and suffers a $1.2 billion loss.

September 2011: A construction worker dies on the site after being struck by lightning, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

Febuary 2013: Revel announces it will file for bankruptcy after being opened a month and 17 days.

April 2013: The bodies of two New Jersey residents are found in a Revel hotel room, dying from an apparent drug overdose, according to the Associated Press.

May 2013: an Englishman fell more than 40 feet from Revel's escalator and suffered a broken leg, according to NJ.com.

After years of "bad luck," Revel's hotel is set to close September 1 followed by its casino on September 2.
