An 85-year-old British escort says she has no intentions of giving up her job, even at the expense of being alienated by most of her family.
Shelia Vogel-Coupe, who is Britain's oldest escort, revealed to The Mirror that she became an escort four years ago because she loves sex. The grandmother entertains clients as young as 20, raking in over $400 an hour.
"I get lonely and like the companionship of a gentleman, but if you want the honest truth, I do it because I love sex," Vogel-Coupe told The Mirror. "Even thinking about it makes me feel better."
Vogel-Coupe became an escort after both of her marriages, which were happy, ended when her husbands passed away due to illness.
Though business is booming for the 85-year-old, who sees up to 10 clients a week and earns $420 an hour, her line of work is a source of embarrassment for most of her family. Vogel-Coupe is now only on good terms with one daughter and grandson since her family found out, The Mirror reported.
"They didn't know anything about it and yes it must have been a shock," Vogel-Coupe told the UK show "This Morning" in a 2011 interview.
It was also a source of shame for her granddaughter Katie Waissel, who was a finalist on "X Factor."
But for award-winning filmmaker Charlie Russell, the grandmother was fascinating enough to feature in an upcoming documentary titled "My Granny the Escort." The director told the New York Daily News he wanted to present a different side of the sex industry, which usually focuses on the atrocities of sex trafficking.
Vogel-Coupe said that while she wishes her family was more accepting of her lifestyle, she will not give it up.
"It makes me feel proud that, at my age, I've preserved my body so well and men love it," she told The Mirror. "I'm not ready to stop yet."
"My Granny the Escort," featuring Voguel-Coupe and two other elderly escorts, airs Thursday on the UK's Channel 4.
