A fire at an apartment complex in Everett, Washington on Friday left one person dead and at least two injured, according to KIRO-TV.
Police officers in Everett received a call around 2:45 a.m. about malicious mischief after a resident allegedly heard a glass break.
When authorities arrived, they noticed the apartment building was in flames and immediately call the Everett Fire Department.
Neighbors told media outlets that the victim was a man who lived with his son, but investigators have not released information about those involved.
Melvin Huss, a resident in the apartment, said he saw a man trying to kick in the door of the burning unit.
"We see all this smoke and all of sudden we see this guy kicking in the door. I'm like, 'No you can't do that!' He said, 'My dad's in there! My dad's in there!'"
While officials are investigating the origin of the fire, a spokesperson for Everett Police said there is currently no indication of arson.
Another neighbor told KIRO-TV she heard three loud explosions before going outside and seeing the flames, which left at least one dozen residents displaced.
Later in the morning, the fire department's Twitter account issued tweets updating residents on the fire.
"Fire out. One deceased in the apartment. Red Cross dispatched to help those displaced. Asst Fire Marshal Hicks PIO," the tweet read.
