Missing Connecticut Children Found In Maine After Amber Alert

Three missing boys from Connecticut believed to be taken by their mother were found safely in Maine on Tuesday, NBC News reported.

An Amber Alert was issued for Ryan Lewis, 9, and 7-year-old twins Brandon and Dylan Lewis after their mother, 32-year-old Jackie Morris, didn't return them to their father's home after a scheduled visit.

In addition to Connecticut, the alert was also issued in Massachusetts and Maine -- two states she has ties to.

"We do know that the three children are with her. They are in good condition. We are working with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, who will be working with the Maine Department of Children and Families to coordinate the return of the kids," Lt. James Grady, of Vernon Police, told NBC News.

Though Morris has visitation rights, the boys did not attend school on Monday or Tuesday and no one had been in contact with them.

Morris and the boys' father are reportedly going through a custody battle.

Police initially issued a silver alert but changed it to an Amber Alert after presuming the children may be in danger. According to officials, the change may have stemmed from concerns about the mother's mental health.

The mother of three was last seen on Sunday after checking out of a hotel in Vernon.

Further details on the investigation and possible charges were not immediately available.
