Indiana's struggles continued on Monday with a 102-96 loss to Washington. After showing signs of life in Game 7 against Atlanta, Pacers center Roy Hibbert went invisible on Monday and finished the game with no points and no rebounds.
"I'll just try to be a little more aggressive on both ends and just not be content with letting their guards and forwards get defensive rebounds," Hibbert told the Associated Press. "I've got to do a good job putting a body on Nene and Gortat, so I'm just going to go out there and pursue."
Pacers coach Frank Vogel believes Hibbert's lack of impact in the postseason isn't because of lack of effort.
"I think mentally he wants to do more," Vogel said. "He's giving maximum effort, and he's going to continue to study (film) to see how he can be more productive. If Roy Hibbert is on the court, it's because I think he can help us win the next possession in that stretch of that game and help us win that game."
Hibbert hasn't lost the support of his teammates, either.
"We tell Roy all the time how much we're going to need him in this series and this playoff run," Pacers star Paul George said. "You know it's up to Roy to just come through and deliver for us."
Washington, meanwhile, improved to 5-1 in the postseason and 4-0 on the road. Monday marked the Wizard's first win in a second-round playoff series since 1982, thanks in part to the outstanding play of second-year Wizards guard Bradley Beal.
"The way I think about it, I'm 20 years old, I'm playing in the playoffs, something I've always dreamed of. Why not embrace it?" Beal said. "Why not accept the challenge and have fun with it? That's all I'm doing -- having fun."
