Newt Gingrich Asks for Help in Naming his 'New and Different' Cell Phone (VIDEO)

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is having a bit of trouble. He has caught up with the times and been using an iPhone like many politicians. However, he is doesn’t quite know what to call it, according to DigitalTrends.com.

The former Speaker wrote an article and shot a video to discuss his confusion titled, “We’re really puzzled.”

According to Gingrich, Gingrich Productions has spent a significant amount of time trying to decide what to call his iPhone.

He points out that cell phones “bear almost no resemblance to your home phone,” and have as much “computing power as a 2003 laptop.” For example, he points towards his phones ability to search on Wikipedia, hold group chats, watch YouTube videos and ask for directions home.

If it can accomplish all of this, then it is obviously “not a cell phone.”

Gingrich had been referring to these “new and different” devices as “handheld computers.” However, this still isn’t quite right. So, he’s asked all those who follow him on Twitter, read his article and watch the video to help out. Now, a pretty significant portion of the United States is well aware that these “new and different” things are called “smartphones.” However, some of the comments on the Gingrich Productions website are pretty interesting.

Tim McCurdy writes:

Newt, I sat with several people in 1976 where we dreamed of a device you described. We called it a communications egg. That was also inadequate then and our vision was less that what is available today. Really it all revolves around communication of information and how we use it, So I would say a universal communicator.

PortaCortex …. totally makes sense, doesn’t it?!

Dale Davis writes:

My suggestion is “MAiO”
It is Multipurpose,
A play on words, and phrases. It is an “All in One”,
It starts and ends each day: Alpha & Omega,
Most apps started with the “iPhone”….thus the “MAiO”
MultipurposeAllinOne.

Despite all of the suggestions Gingrich is receiving we hope someone, somewhere taps him on the shoulder, points to his iPhone and says, “Newt this, this is a smartphone.”
