Singer Brandy Norwood and her fiancé Ryan Press have split and called off their engagement. The two first announced their plans to get married in December 2012.
"They are no longer together. The engagement is off, but the friendship is still on," Brandy's rep said in a statement, US Weekly reports.
"They decided to take a step back and reevaluate the relationship," the rep added. "Brandy is now 35 - that's what her whole #35 on Twitter is about, becoming her own woman."
It would have been the first marriage for the singer/actress who has a 12-year-old daughter named Sy'rai from a previous relationship. The rep told the magazine that Brandy still hopes to get married one day and definitely wants more kids but "she is working on so many other things right now."
"They haven't ended things on a bad note and they still speak all the time," her rep told US.
Breakup rumors first surfaced back in February when the "Boy is Mine" singer was spotted at the 45th NAACP Non-Televised Awards without her engagement ring. She also ditched the diamond sparkler at her birthday party that same month, E! News reports.
The "Put It Down" singer appeared on VH1's "Morning Buzz" on Tuesday, Apr. 15 but did not discuss the split from Press. However, she did say that her upcoming album would reflect some things she's been through lately.
"It's gonna be a very personal album for me," she said, according to E!. "It's about my life and a lot of things I've been going through lately, so I can't wait for that."
"I'ma be hollerin' a lot on this album!" she added.
Back in 2012, Brandy gushed about her romance with Press telling US at the time that the music executive helped her believe in love again.
"I had given up on love a long time ago," Brandy said at the time. "It just didn't seem to work for me, so I was single for a very long time. I stopped looking for love and then I ran into my boyfriend. He just loves me for who I am."
