The Washington Redskins and an unnamed team are reportedly the top contenders for free agent DeSean Jackson.  The Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills are also reportedly "in the mix."

Washington, an NFC East rival of Philadelphia, has emerged as one of the two top contenders for Jackson.

Per ESPN:

"(Jackson) is deep in negotiations with two teams previously not mentioned as having interest, a source close to the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder.

"The source, who confirmed that Jackson is traveling to meet with the Washington Redskins, told Werder: 'There have been negotiations in the past 24 hours.  Two teams nobody has mentioned as being interested are deep in negiations.'"

Both ESPN's John Keim and NFL.com's Ian Rapoport also reported Jackson as scheduled to visit the Redskins; Keim reported the bulk of Jackson's visit will take place on Tuesday.

If the reports are accurate, then Jackson's decision to visit with Washington over the span of two days could indicate Washington as being the preferred landing spot of the ex-Eagles receiver.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall seemingly made a pitch for Jackson on Saturday, telling CSNWashington.com that signing the speedy veteran would be "huge" and would "make my day, make my year."

Hall also addressed the report of Jackson having off-the-field issues, including alleged ties to gangs.

"I feel like our locker room has a good group of young guys, a good group of old guys, man," Hall said.  "Some of the things he's been going through lately, that's life.  That's life.  We've all been through something, so ... if he's able to come here, man, I'm going to take him under my wing and just try to put him on the right path."

Oakland and Buffalo are also "in the mix" for Jackson, according to Rapoport.  The New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots have been linked to Jackson, too.

Jackson, who the Eagles released on Friday, is coming off a career-best 1,332 receiving yard season.
