A 15-year-old Connecticut boy was fatally shot after receiving a death threat over a girl, the New York Daily News reported.
Kristjian Ndoj, 15, died on Thursday -- five days after he was shot in the leg and head.
"Obviously this is a very somber time ... for the entire Shelton community," said Shelton Public Schools Superintendent Freeman Burr at a news conference on Thursday.
According to Shelton Police spokesman Lt. Robert Kozlowsky, Ndoj was on life support at Bridgeport Hospital.
On Saturday, a classmate allegedly texted Ndoj and said "My boyfriend is going to kill you," according to one of the teen's relatives. Later in the day, Ndoj was shot while riding bikes with a friend.
"We are going at this full-throttle in this investigation," Kozlowsky said.
Anthony Franco, who went to school with Ndoj, backed up the death threat claim and said a girl's boyfriend said "If he hangs out with her or talks to her anymore, there's going to be problems."
An attorney for the boy's family thanked the community for their support and also asked for privacy.
"The family wants to thank their Shelton neighbors," he said, "as well as all those who offered their kind and thoughtful expressions of love and support toward Kristjan and his family."
Additionally, supporters created an online fundraising page that collected more than $10,000 in just two days.
