Brooklyn (33-31) had their three-game winning streak ended on Saturday by the Washington Wizards. The Nets gave up a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter en route to a 101-94 loss at the Verizon Center.

"We got great looks, it just didn't go down," Nets coach Jason Kidd said, via ESPN. "We executed plays, I think we might have gotten a little frustrated on the defensive end, when we were giving up shots, and that led to the carry-over on the offensive end."

While the Nets missed an opportunity to inch into the fifth in the Eastern Conference, the team even being in playoff contention is a surprise given their poor start to the season. Brooklyn has won seven of their last 10 games and has a four-game lead over No. 8 Atlanta.

"We had these visions of playing like this before the season started," Nets star Paul Pierce said. "Unfortunately it took longer than we expected, but I'm glad we were able to turn it around at this point in the season at the right time."

Phoenix (38-28), meanwhile, is battling to stay in playoff contention. The Suns are one game out of the eighth playoff in the Western Conference, and they're just four games behind No. 5 Portland. The Suns snapped a three-game losing streaking on Friday against Boston, and they added another win on Sunday against Toronto.
