Customers eating breakfast at a Santa Barbara restaurant were hit by an enormous wave that crashed into the dining room on Saturday, resulting in a broken window.

No patrons were injured by stray glass or shards of debris that suddenly flew into Moby Dick Restaurant on Stearns Wharf, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times.

The huge wave crashed through the restaurant at about 9:30 a.m., manager Gerry Mora told the Times. He said that he was perusing the list of people waiting for reservations or seats when he suddenly heard "screaming and shouting." A server came running out of the back of the restaurant yelling, "the window's broke, the window's broke," according to Mora, who recalled the event in detail.

Mora paced to the front of the dining room to check out the damage, then helped move all of the patrons out of the restaurant as a precautionary measure. The manager told the Times he was worried another big wave would threaten the customers' safety.

Mora described diners as "mostly just shocked and stunned."

"We were all in shock," he said on Monday. "Some of my customers got wet. Thank goodness no one got hurt or cut by the glass."

Members of the Santa Barbara City Fire Department told the Los Angeles Times that no injuries were reported, but some people were pushed over by the force of the water.

Two waves caused damage to both the restaurant and a nearby pier - the first wave most likely broke some wood off the wharf, which was then picked up by the second wave and thrown through the window of the restaurant.

"We are assuming that a piece of wood got knocked up from the wharf," Mora told the Times. "I've been here for 10 years and not once this has happened. We've had big waves before, but nothing like this."

Some patrons managed to get the wave crash on camera, then posted it on YouTube.
