In the ongoing coverage of Trump's legal battle in the state of Georgia. Reuters has reported that Fulton County DA Fani Willis has admitted to having a personal relationship with another lawyer.

However, Willis has also denied that it has tainted the case. In a statement, Willis said, "While the allegations raised in the various motions are salacious and garnered the media attention they were designed to obtain, none provide this Court with any basis upon which to order the relief they seek."

Trump and two co-defendants are looking to disqualify Willis as well as the charges on the alleged grounds that Willis had benefited from the "Improper, clandestine personal relationship" with lawyer Nathan Wade whom Willis hired to help lead the investigation. In a post on the social platform Truth Social Trump stated, "THIS SCAM IS TOTALLY DISCREDITED & OVER!" Trump's defense lawyer, Steven Sadow, has said that Willis's statement "asks the court to turn a blind eye to her alleged personal and financial misconduct." Both Trump and his co-defendants have also stated that Willis's relationship represents a conflict of interest and could potentially run afoul of state ethics as well as United States law.

Willis has said that her relationship with Wade did not provide either prosecutor with a personal or financial stake in the ongoing case and has stated that the alleged conflict of interest was based on "fantastical theories and rank speculation." In his sworn statement, Wade says that the relationship with Willis began in the year 2022 after he was hired as a special prosecutor regarding the 2020 election case and has also said that Willis herself had not received any financial benefit from the relationship. This is one of four cases as well as multiple civil suits that Trump is facing at the time of writing. In addition, HNGN has reported that there has been a slowdown in the former president's fundraising which may have been impacted by these ongoing cases.
