In their recent coverage of former President Donald Trump, Reuters has reported that Trump has seen an apparent drop off in fundraising following his ongoing legal battles. At the time of writing the former president faces four criminal trials on top of multiple civil suits.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - JANUARY 27: Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President Donald Trump stands on stage during a campaign event at Big League Dreams Las Vegas on January 27, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Trump is campaigning in Nevada ahead of the state’s Republican presidential caucuses on February 8.

Trump has stated that he's innocent of all charges. The report also follows the former president's fundraising history. To begin, Trump's primary fundraising group raised $4 million twice in single-day hauls last year. These days were on April 4th following his not-guilty plea, to pay a pornstar hush money. The next day was August 25th after pleading not guilty to election fraud in the state of Georgia. These numbers were reported by WinRed which is the primary online fundraising platform for the Republican party.

The Slowdown

However, in the last three months of last year, 2023, he only pulled in $19 million down from the $25 million in the prior three months. To compare his potential opponent in the upcoming election, Joe Biden had pulled in $33 million. Despite the controversy and piling legal troubles Trump's campaign continues to send supporters emails. In addition to stating his innocence of the charges, the former president has also stated his prosecutions are politically motivated.

In addition to the recent slowdown, Joe Biden has recently visited Florida and participated in two fundraisers. One of which wasn't too far from Trump's Marlargo Estate. During one of the fundraisers Biden declared that with the help of supporters, they would defeat Trump again. However, it remains to be seen if the former President can even run again due to his legal troubles. But it would seem that Trump is still making progress as the former President has secured the last remaining unresolved delegate needed to secure the state of New Hampshire from Nikki Haley. At the time of writing the former president has an overall lead over Haley of 33-17. However, to secure the Republican nomination Trump would need to win a majority of delegate votes during the Republican convention that will occur in the summer of this year in Milwaukee.
