An Atlanta woman pretended to be the manager of a local 24-hour diner chain, then made off with a stack of dollar bills from the cash register.

An unidentified suspect posed as a Waffle House employee to carry out the robbery on Wednesday, according to members of the city's police department who spoke with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

She even threw on a Waffle House uniform as a disguise, the Journal-Constitution reported.

The actual manager of the Waffle House located on Memorial Drive informed local law enforcement that the woman came onto the premises at about 6 o'clock in the morning.

Jamonte Robinson told the Journal-Constitution that the woman, who was wearing a Waffle House uniform, said that she was an area manager.

According to Atlanta police spokesperson Kim Jones, the suspect "entered the business and began acting as an area manager."

She then went into an space designated for men's and women's bathrooms, "where she conducted an inspection of the area," Jones explained. The suspect then "continued the routine as all other area managers do."

"When she got to the cash register, she turned the register key and took out about $100 in cash," Jones continued. "This action was not part of the area manager's routine, according to [Robinson]."

Once she'd nabbed the cash from the register, the woman left the restaurant, climbed into a Mercury Mountaineer sport utility vehicle, and drove away with an unidentified male who was behind the wheel.

The woman spent about four minutes inside the Waffle House. She's been described as white, in her mid-20s, with red hair. She looked to be about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, according to the Journal-Constitution.

The case is being treated as one of larceny as opposed to robbery since "there was no intimidation made, nor was a weapon used," Jones stated.
