At least two sources have told reporters that former US president Donald Trump's eldest sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, has died.

The New York Times was the first to report on the death of the former federal judge and prosecutor at the age of 86.

ABC News added that Barry was discovered to be unresponsive in her Fifth Avenue apartment early Monday morning (November 13). There were no signs of trauma or foul play, but emergency services said they were called to the scene of a cardiac arrest.

A representative for Trump, who is seeking to be re-elected in 2024, declined to comment.

Barry was the third of Trump's siblings to die after Robert Trump in August 2020 and Fred Trump Jr. in 1981.

Trump's Sister and Her Law Career

Barry was selected by former president Ronald Reagan to serve on the New Jersey Federal District Court in 1983 and was also nominated by Bill Clinton to the 3rd Court of Appeals in 1999.

She retired from the position in 2019, but not without being involved in an investigation into whether she violated judicial conduct rules by committing tax fraud after the Times reported the Trump family's alleged positions to utilize tax schemes to inflate their inheritances.

Because she retired, the investigation into Barry closed, leaving her entitled to an annual retirement salary and free from judicial rebuke. Her attorney denied the allegations, CNN reported.
