According to News Max's latest report, the opening of the new nuclear reactor plant was confirmed by Georgia Power Co.

The company announced on Monday, July 31, that Unit 3 at Plant Vogtle has completed testing.
Georgia Power Co. added that the new American nuclear reactor is already sending power to the grid effectively and reliably.

This first new American nuclear power plant is estimated to have a full output of 1,100 megawatts of electricity.

Thanks to this, Unit 3 can power around 500,000 homes and businesses in Georgia. Even utilities in Florida and Alabama are also receiving the electricity generated by the nuclear power plant.

Unit 3 of the Plant Vogtle is expected to be followed by another nuclear reactor. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said that the radioactive fuel is expected to be loaded into Unit 4 of the nuclear power plant.

This fourth nuclear reactor of Plant Vogtle is expected to enter commercial operation by March 2023, as reported by NBC News

Government officials said that Plant Vogtle is essential since nuclear power is now being considered as another power source to alleviate climate change.

Nuclear power can effectively generate electricity without burning natural coal, gas, and oil.

"This project shows just how new nuclear can and will play a critical role in achieving a clean energy future for the United States," explained Southern Co.'s CEO Chris Womack.

He added that by bringing the Plant Vogtle Unit 3 safely into service, they are crediting the hard work and dedication of the teams at the Southern Company.

The importance of Vogtle can also be seen in consumers since almost all of them are paying for it.

As of writing, more than 2 million electric consumers are already paying part of the financing cost.

Electric public service commissioners also approved the monthly rate increase of 3.78$ per month for residential customers.
