Kentucky: Co-Workers Win Scratch-Off $50,000 Jackpot During Lunch Break

The two kept scratching and noticed that they were getting a lot more wins.

The Kentucky lottery revealed on Tuesday that two coworkers had won a substantial sum while on their lunch break.

Both Tyesha Trice and Dylan Mitchell work as cashiers at a Valu Market in Louisville, and during their lunch break, they decided to buy a two scratch-off tickets, per CBS News.

After the duo won $100 on a $30 scratch off ticket, they decided to try their luck again by purchasing a $50 500x ticket.

"We were excited about the first win," the coworkers said in a press release. The two even gave each other a little fist bump.

Trice and Mitchell kept scratching, and they began to notice a lot more coming their way.

The two found prizes in every area, and the scratch off lottery winnings kept coming. The two ended up with a total of $50,000 once all the winnings were tallied.

Best Birthday Gift

The next day, which was Mitchell's birthday, the two went to get their ticket. They took home $17,875 apiece after taxes.

Mitchell remarked that it was his best birthday ever. "I'll never forget it," he said, per the New York Post.

He also told lottery authorities that he would use his winnings to purchase a vehicle and look for a place to live, while Trice stated that she would save or pay rent with her money.

The Kentucky Lottery has announced that ValuMarket would get $500 for selling the winning ticket.

In January, a couple claimed a $1 million jackpot from the Kentucky Lottery, taking home $600,000 in cash. The winnings were a portion of the Mega Millions scratch-off game's $20 million jackpot, per the Lexington Herald Leader.

Michael Allen purchased a winning ticket at the Speedway in Alexandria, Kentucky, and he and his wife Sheila ended up winning the scratch off lottery grand prize.
