Katy Perry and John Mayer Are Not Engaged, Sources Confirm

Contrary to recent rumors making the rounds, Katy Perry and John Mayer are not engaged sources confirmed to a leading tabloid.

Rumors of the engagement surfaced when Perry was spotted leaving the Sunset Tower Hotel in L.A. on Valentine's Day wearing a big diamond ring on her ring finger and an even bigger smile on her face. Daily Mail reported that the two were ready to take things to the next step after a romantic Valentine's Day dinner last week.

Now a source has come forward and confirmed to Us Weekly, that the news is just rumors and there's been no engagement.

"It's not true. They are not engaged," an insider told the tabloid. Adds a second source: "It was a romantic Valentine's Day dinner for the two of them in a private spot but there was no proposal...the dinner was sweet but low-key."

They two have been dating for almost two years now and it is only a matter of time before they walk down the aisle. The couple was first seen together enjoying a party at Soho House on July 2012, where the 'I Kissed A Girl' singer was apparently 'all over' her long-haired beau. At that time neither of them confirmed news of them dating.

Rumors of the two dating came just after the "Roar" singer's divorce from British comedian Russell Brand was made official. Between her divorce and dating Mayer, Perry was linked to male model Baptiste Giabiconi and "Florence And The Machine" guitarist Rob Ackroyd.

Mayer too is no stranger to the "dating" limelight thanks to his celebrity relationships. Along with enjoying long-term relationships with Minka Kelly, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, John has also dated Jennifer Love Hewitt and Taylor Swift. His relationship and breakup with Swift was quite the talk of tinsel town. The relationship didn't end too well and the country singer later penned a song about their brief romance, titled "Dear John."

Mayer later went on record to say he was 'humiliated' by the song. "It made me feel terrible. Because I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do," he told Rolling Stones.

Despite all the ups and downs, it seems like the two have finally found love and it won't be long before we hear wedding bells, hopefully!
