Oklahoma State (16-9) plummeted from the national rankings and are on a six-game losing streak. Their latest loss came to rival Oklahoma on Saturday, 77-74. The Cowboys will still be without star Marcus Smart, who's serving the final game of his suspension, for Monday's contest.
Smart, who leads Oklahoma State in scoring, was handed a three-game suspension last week for his altercation with a Texas Tech fan. The sophomore guard accepted responsibility for his role in the confrontation and apologized.
"This is not how I conduct myself," Smart said last week, via ESPN. "This is not how the program is run. This is not how I was raised. I let my emotions get the best of me. It's something I'll have to learn from, a lesson I'll have to learn from. The consequences that are coming with it - I'm taking full responsibility. No fingers pointing - this is all upon me."
In Smart's absence, senior guard Markel Brown will again be asked to produce on the offensive side of the court. Brown is the team's second-highest scorer with 17.0 points per game and has averaged 22.0 points over the past two games without Smart.
Baylor (16-9), meanwhile, has won three of their last five games, including two straight. Senior forward Cory Jefferson has a team-high 12.6 points per game and is one of four Baylor players scoring in the double-digits.
The Bears are coming off an 87-73 win on Saturday over Kansas State.
