The Lakers (18-34) appear destined for the NBA draft lottery. The season hasn't gone as planned for Los Angeles, who've dealt with a myriad of injuries throughout the season to key players such as Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.
"We just have to get through this period and get guys back after the All-Star break," coach Mike D'Antoni said, via ESPN. "We'll have three or four guys back then, and that will help."
One of those players could be Bryant. Despite the losing season, Bryant remains adamant about returning to the court as soon as he's medically cleared.
"My plan hasn't changed," Bryant said on Sunday during a Nike promotional event, via ESPN. "I'm just going about it every single day just trying to get better. That's my job. My job is to get my butt back out there on the court when I'm healthy enough to play and that hasn't changed."
Bryant has been sidelined since Dec. 17 after fracturing the lateral tibial plateau in his left knee.
Oklahoma City (42-12), meanwhile, sits atop the Western Conference as the team to beat. The Thunder have won eight of their last 10 games, including a 98-95 win on Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
"We fought hard," Durant told the team website. "We're a resilient team. We don't only play hard when we're winning. We're not only happy when we're winning. We keep our heads up through adversity and through tough times. That's just how we are as an organization."
